State of Nursing Jobs in Dubai
Upon first glance, a sightseeing trip across Dubai will reveal many things, you’ll see the Burj Al Arab, The Burj Khalifa, indoor ski slopes and shopping malls galore!
There is something else you can’t help but notice amongst the surprisingly leafy environs – The Healthcare sector is booming in the United Arab Emirates.
As well as private clinics catering to all, with specialisms across Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Cardiology, Dermatology, Neurolgy and everything in between, there is also a very popular aesthetic surgery culture with many private surgeries catering to ‘cosmetic surgery’ and other practices.
Large hospitals abound, from the Government owned and run to the private, attracting staff from across the globe. With the recent establishment of ‘Dubai Healthcare City’ ( DHCC ) the attraction of the Middle East and it’s growing economy has attracted many internationally recognized hospitals, clinics and Doctors setting up Dubai branches of their already successful overseas operations.
Having trained in an internationally recognized establishment will be key to getting your first responses and interviews. There is no discrimination in play in Dubai as to which country you qualified. With a diverse melting pot of nationalities and cultures, the Dubai healthcare sector is staffed with people from across the world, regardless of which type of role they perform.
Of course, you will need to actively demonstrate your qualifications when you apply for a given post, therefore in advance of your application you will absolutely need to have your qualifications authenticated, if you can start this process as soon as possible it will save much time later on. Every professional qualification from Degree upwards needs to be authenticated by the institution that awarded the certificate, for any professional position in Dubai.
Most recruitment agencies suggest you submit a copy of your passport, 3 copies of your original certificates, the name of your current supervisor and the address of the issuing body for your qualifications, copies of your employment references and 3 copies of your current practicing medical registration/certificate of registration from your governing medical body to the UAE embassy in your country of origin. We would suggest you contact the embassy first, because requirements do change.
Additionally, you can try contacting the personnel department of one of the larger international hospitals in Dubai to find out what the current practice isfor a straighter ( no doubt ) more relevant answer. You can also look on online forums. There are bound to be scores of peole in the same situation who will be able to share both experiences and advice.
It is better to have all of your documents and attestations in place before you begin applying for nursing jobs in Dubai. Different recruitment agencies will want different data from you.
The basics of a salary ‘package’ are always pretty standard fare across hospitals in the emirate – Further incentive can be offered to positions that are in demand or skills that are in short supply. You should expect to be offered a good basic tax-free salary as a nurse in Dubaiand accommodation will usually be supplied, sharing with others of the same sex in company provided rooms is usual. Health insurance is covered and one return airfare home each or every two years would normally come as standard.
Of course some hospitals and clinics offer more than others, as with any other profession. Training incentives or subsidiaries on childcare, utility bills and school fees might be some of the ‘extras’ offered on top of the basic package. Working hours and shift patterns will of course be exclusive to the particular organization you work for or your particular specialism.
